Dear Members and Friends:

 

We thank you for your past support of the Adopt-A-Family program, and all the other CKI programs that your contributions have helped to keep afloat in this trying economic time. While we continue to wade our way through financial difficulties, we sometimes forget that we are not the only ones affected. In fact, many have been hit far harder and longer; Israel holds many of these victims.

 

For the past 8 years, Kneseth Israel has helped to provide a monthly stipend to a number of families living in Israel. They were chosen initially because of the significant personal hardships they endured under the Second Intifada. Most recently we have chosen families that were forcibly evicted from their homes in Gush Katif. Your donations have allowed these families to maintain the continuity that is integral to Jewish life. For that we are grateful.

 

Unfortunately, the situation has grown increasingly dire and, besides not having permanent homes, several of the evicted families have seen a reduction in their working hours or, worse, their jobs disappearing altogether. We need to work together to help buoy the most fragile members of Klal Yisrael. Your support will help ensure not only that the families receive clothing, food and housing, but that they also can look upon simchahs as a blessing, not a financial burden from which they may never be able to recover.

 

OUR FUNDS ARE NOW DEPLETED, AND YOUR IMMEDIATE HELP IS NEEDED TO CONTINUE THIS LIFESAVING PROGRAM.
